@InYourFayes, the latest video is both simple and endearing. The valuable idea and your great sense of humor shine through. The intro was brilliant! I enjoyed the cartoonish sound effects and eye rolls (which millennials have perfected), and your undeniable charm in front of and behind the camera is always distinctive. Although your simple thought might have been evident to many, it was new to me. When I watched the video, I realized I'd overlooked a straightforward feature staring right at me! Your video (now) encouraged me to try cheaper, creative manual focus lenses on my A7CII, which I had always avoided due to poor eyesight. (For example, the 7artisian wide-angle E mount lenses seem alluring to a new photographer.) Thank you for another quality video, and kudos to you for always making photography fun!

So you still produce beautiful image with that blurry viewfinder for a year?

Ah, the diopter! This is 101 in learning your camera when you begin.Todays society has become to reliant upon using the screen to focus with. Wasn't this way back in the early days of digital or film. Although the diopter has not a thing to do with actual focus of the lens on the subject in AF mode. SO even if the diopter is out of focus and you still use the screen. It will be in focus if your AF locks on or you use manual focus with peaking. But if you use Manual focus and look thru the view finder/diopter, that's where it comes into play. But in most older Medium Format (pre 80's or so) and Large format film cameras, you don't have the option of AF. SO you need to use the view finder for focusing.

Fortunately, you discovered this in time, otherwise you would probably have taken the camera to the optician. Your photos, videos and yourself are sufficiently sharp 😉 When I previously did wedding reports, I sometimes deliberately set the viewfinder to be out of focus and at weddings towards the end of the evening anyway 😂 Are you 100% Dutch Faye btw? I was recently told the correct way to adjust the diopter setting: Look at some of the writing inside the viewfinder, such as the exposure settings, and adjust the wheel until that is in focus.

This is why it really does pay to spend a while reading the manual for your camera. Boring? Yes. Time-consuming? Yes. Necessary? Maybe. Useful? Absolutely.

I've been wearing reading glasses 15 years now, I think, but about 6 or 7 years ago adjusted that with my glasses on. After a couple of months I reset it without it, because I couldn't stand it. I know that one of the days I will be wearing glasses full time but not yet.

These diopters go back at least 64 years. I have them on some of my Soviet film cameras from the 60's ('63 Zorki, '60 Fed, '64 Leningrad).
